Happy Holidays!

First, I just like to start by saying thank you for everyone who signed up for a subscription. Your support means the world to us, and you are what is keeping us running. Without the support, I would not have a job, and I would not be able to build any of this cool stuff. It truly meant the world to me, and I just want to express how grateful I am. If you happen to miss the instructions to claim your grandfathered right, please check out my article with instructions on how to sign up here. And if you have any lingering questions, feel free to drop them below. Going Pro: How to Claim Your Grandfathered Rate (Article)

My Background

First, it dawned on me the other day that I have yet to truly introduce myself. Over the years, I've been behind the scenes, I figured Id give a little introduction in more detail and tell my story. If you don’t care, by all means scroll down until you see the next titled section - I’ll begin updates there.

I grew up in a small town named Powdersville located in upstate South Carolina. During grade school, I did about every sport you could imagine. Being honest, I was more dedicated to my athletic dreams than I was my schooling. Looking back, it was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

I ended up going to Clemson to purse a degree in engineering while also being apart of the football program. The engineering degree dream only lasted about a year, the load between sports and academics was too much. I felt like there wasn’t enough time in the day. What did I do? Well, what I felt like anyone would have done. I switched to the School of Business and decided to pursue a finance degree. I already had a strong background in programming, so I figured it would be a streamlined path to break into fintech somehow, and here I am now.

My football career had an abrupt ending when I got medically disqualified after my 4th knee operation in 2023. I've torn pretty much everything you can tear in a knee at least once. Most things I've torn multiple times. But looking back, everything happens for a reason, and the timing was perfect. Within two weeks of being medically disqualified, I had landed my first internship, which just so happened to be the company that Adam was working for. So in reality, looking back, if I had not gotten medically disqualified, I would not be in the position where I am today. Plus, I finally got to drop my playing weight (I was around 310lbs and within 6months shed near 90lbs) which inevitably led to me meeting my fiancée (and her being willing to give me a chance haha).

We now live in Northern Florida (about 40-50mins south of Jacksonville), and she is attending law school. It's still scary for me to think that I took one of the largest risks of my young career during her first semester - we’ll look back and hopefully laugh about it one day.

Adam likes to pretend like I am some genius. I'll be the first to tell you I am not. I am somebody who believes that you get out of something what you're willing to put into it. Take football for example. I went as far as I could. I will also go as far as I can here and continue to push myself to my limits. Coach Swinney always used to say:

Do what you can while you can, so when you cannot, you will not wish that you would have, when you could have.

Anyways I just wanted to put it out there so you guys could attach a name to the face. My LinkedIn is still kind of lacking, so if anyone would like to connect, please by all means HERE

Now onto the good stuff.

Research Terminal Updates

the research terminal has undergone several upgrades, including the features for:

  • Creating personalized views

  • Looking at analyst-configured views.

  • Sticky headers along with sticky symbol column for ease of use

  • Redesigned filters and columns capabilities.

  • Upgraded search logic

  • And much, much more.

I think the most critical thing here is the new view implementation for members. Members are now be able to create their own personalized views, or check out the views that our analysts and myself have configured.

These are still in beta and will be entirely functional the second that we implement our ratings and price targets, which will be coming in the very near future. I have been delayed on this end, and I apologize. It should be today or tomorrow.

To create a view, simply select the columns and filters you would like to visit again in the future. Select "Create View," name it, and it will automatically save for future use. A couple of examples for use cases are:

  • A personalized watch list

  • Tracking your portfolio (I will be adding a filter in the future where it will automatically update the view when your portfolio is selected, similar to the model portfolio views filter currently implemented.)

  • Tracking different sectors.

  • Bulk data exports you can pre-configure to expedite the process.

When you select the views button, you'll see my views initially in a tab that says GNG Views. Those GNG Views are the ones configured by our analyst. My views are what you will have saved.

Please let me know if there are any bugs or edits needed in the current system. Shoutout to Paul, thank you for helping debug and test!

Timeline:

  • In the next one to two days, I will implement our ratings and targets.

  • In the next week, I will be expanding the export capabilities back to around 70 columns.

  • In the next 3 weeks I will be creating a Google master sheet that will be linked on the page for those members who would like to automatically import our data from a Google sheet. This will be the "GNG master sheet" that everyone has been requesting. But do note that we will have our own Google extension plugin for Google Sheets along with Excel that will allow you to automatically use formulas to populate our data - this is still a couple months out.

The Monte Carlo Suite

our new Monte Carlo forecasting feature is officially in beta. It can be found under the Tools section in the navigation bar.

I completed this over this weekend, spending about 30 hours trying to dig through every education in detail. Unfortunately, it's hard to test everything, so if you do run across a bug, please let me know. You will be able to input individual stocks, select a model portfolio, or even your own personal portfolio. You can forecast the probabilities as soon as a week from the previous closed period all the way to ten years in the future. I'm actually extremely confident there will be some bugs considering the speed I shipped it. I think it's important to note that my strong suit in development is back-end work and the mathematics behind everything. I'm confident that the numerical scores are correct. My only uncertainty lies in whether I'm displaying everything in the most friendly and usable way. It's also very important to note that this is a probability distribution model. I encourage you to look into what Monte Carlo's really are if you plan on using this tool, and, of course, as always, understand that this is not investment advice. Rather a tool to help you see different probabilities of different outcomes.

for all the data guys out there, this is a dream. For Pro members, the usage should be plentiful, and you should be able to use it as much as you please for now. It is compute-heavy, and if we do restrict it in the future, that will be properly communicated. You will still have plenty of usage, maybe not just unlimited. For example, if I were to change it from 10,000 runs an hour to only 100 for our power users.

If you scroll to the bottom of the screen once a report runs, you will have the ability to export it to Excel. This will provide you a sheet with multiple pages breaking through going through the ins and outs of the entire simulation. We will also keep a history, individual to yourself, of all runs that you've completed. You can access this at the top of the page by selecting the 'History' button.

On this page, you can also select the button that says "Select to Compare" and compare multiple runs in an easy-to-view format. This will help with deeper analysis and understanding of the implications of different setups and risks associated with them. I'm convinced that this feature is one of a kind, but if anyone knows any other service that offers a comparison tool with this much detail, please do make me aware.

This is just the beginning. We haven't even implemented our machine learning products yet. That's where stuff will really get interesting. The amazing part? GNG users can use this or not. It doesn't matter. It's included in our current offering. For the more sophisticated members, this will be extremely useful.

Known Major Bugs

  • Deleting transactions on portfolios sometimes doesn’t delete from the positions table correctly. This will be fixed this week.

  • Portfolio display bug on dashboard

These will be fixed this week as a top priority.

There are still tons of features in beta/in the road map. It’s going to just take me time to build, test, and ship. And being frank, I can't keep up with the current rate considering I am developing and also doing all the customer support along with a million other hats I'm wearing. But I promise you I will try, and will not stop until everything we have planned is perfect ;)

Thank you all for the support, again, we can't do this without you. I can't tell you how grateful Adam, Glenn, and I are for all the members who have signed up and financially supported us on this journey.

If you need immediate customer support for something critical or something to do with payments, please reach out in the customer support channel. This has the highest likelihood of being seen by one of the other staffs or myself and getting fixed. THIS CAN BE FOUND HERE: https://chat.gngresearch.com/channel/Customer-Support

please comment any questions you may have or general feedback. We are continuously looking to improve your experience here at GNG!
