In recent years, we have heard endless debates about Big Tech's valuation, the semiconductor supply chain, or the impending power-grid bottlenecks caused by hyperscale data centers. We have spent a lot of time on this as well, and we're far from done. However, as important as all of this is, the market seems to be forgetting that AI isn't just an investing theme. It is literally rewiring the plumbing of the entire stock market itself. The transition from human traders to high-frequency algorithms, and now to agentic AI, which includes autonomous systems that can read unstructured data, reason, and execute trades without human oversight, is radically altering market microstructure. As dramatic as all of this may sound, for single-stock investors, the rules of price discovery, volatility, and risk have changed. And while I have way more fun discussing investment ideas, these topics are extremely important, especially because they are still flying under the radar due to complexity, fast developments, and because most haven't figured out how to deal with them. You are trading inside an "algorithmic monoculture." And if you don't understand how these machines break the order book, you could get shaken out of phenomenal companies at the exact wrong time. That's why this article is a deep dive into the new academic consensus on agentic market structure, the hidden risks of holding single stocks, and how long-term, yield-focused investors can weaponize this volatility. And as this is highly complex, I'll guide you through it and explain how I'm dealing with all of this. So, let's get to it!
