Stock Sectors
Sector returns, dividend yields, and every company GNG Research covers, grouped by market sector.
Sectors: 18
Companies: 5,302
Every stock GNG Research covers belongs to a sector, from the eleven classic equity groups like Technology and Healthcare to fund categories such as Fixed Income and Commodities. A sector groups companies that sell similar products, face the same regulations, and tend to rise and fall together, which makes it the fastest way to narrow thousands of tickers down to a short list worth real attention.
The grouping earns its keep in years like 2022, when Energy gained more than 50 percent while Technology lost more than a quarter of its value. Defensive groups such as Utilities and Consumer Defensive tend to hold up when rates climb or recession fears spread. Knowing which group a company belongs to tells you a lot about the ride ahead before you read a single filing.
Each sector links to its own page listing every company we track in that group, with market cap, P/E ratio, dividend yield, and latest price, plus a link to the full GNG Research analysis for each stock. Members can also push a whole sector into the Research Terminal for deeper screening.

Calendar year total returns in percent, using SPDR sector ETF proxies with dividends and splits included. Communication Services begins in 2019 and Real Estate in 2016, after each fund's inception. 2026 is year to date.
Dividend Yields
Dividend yields cluster by sector. Utilities, Energy, and Real Estate names typically pay out a large share of earnings, while Technology companies keep more cash for growth. Bars show the median trailing yield of dividend payers in each equity sector, so one giant payer cannot skew its group.
Growth Since 2010
Small annual gaps compound. This chart tracks a $10,000 investment made at the start of 2010 in each sector through today, with dividends reinvested. Communication Services and Real Estate are left out because their index funds launched after 2010.
Growth of $10,000 with dividends reinvested, using SPDR sector ETF proxies and month end adjusted closes. The final point is the current year to date.
