We cover a wide range of stocks, but if you think about it, most of my work is built on things you can touch.
That includes pipelines, railroads, land in the Permian Basin, aircraft engines and supplies, REITs, and so much more.
It's one of the reasons why I want to be honest here. The company I am writing about today processes proxy statements for a living. It is one of the least exciting businesses in the S&P 500, if you ask me. And I only ended up here because I read something last night that I could not stop thinking about.
The piece was written by Jordi Visser at 22V Research, and it is called "Tokenization: Machine Rails for Machine Brains." His argument is that three separate stories from last week are actually one story, and that most investors are analyzing them in three different boxes.
I think he is right. I also think this is the kind of Big Picture material that could decide which portfolios work over the next decade and which ones do not.
Now for the part where I am honest with you.
I am not a tokenization expert. I have been investing since I was 15, and almost none of that time was spent studying blockchain infrastructure. And I'm sure that many of you aren't experts on this topic, either. And I don't mean that in a condescending way at all. It's a relatively new topic, and it's complex.
But here is my rule, and it has saved me more money than any screen I have ever built: a thesis is worthless if I cannot explain it to a 16-year-old with a short attention span.
So that is what this article is. I am going to explain what is actually changing in finance in plain English, why almost everyone is playing it the expensive way, and why I landed on a company that has raised its dividend for 20 straight years.
And while we're being honest, I have to say that preparing for this article taught me a lot about this industry as well. Covering it is extremely important here at Main Street Alpha, as it's a Big Picture development that will have a profound impact on finance.
So, let's dive in!
