Back in December I put out a list called the physical foundation of AI . The idea was simple, and at the time it felt a little contrarian. Everyone was arguing about which model would win and whether one chipmaker could keep its lead. I wanted to look one layer down, at the copper, the cooling, the switchgear, and the construction crews that have to exist before a single accelerator does anything useful. That instinct was right. The basket caught several winners early. But six months is a long time in a theme moving this fast, and a first map is not a final one. So this is a refresh, and I want to be honest up front: the refreshed list is stricter, and it cuts some names that actually went up. If you read the December piece, you deserve to know exactly what changed and why. Let's get right to it.
